Olympic inspired scrappin'....

I tend to take waaaaay too long on one layout. I've been trying to push myself to scrap faster and be satisfied with my work... so last night I had the Olympics on and I decided I was going to take some inspiration from Apollo Ono and go faster! (Still so bummed about that bronze, he was robbed!) :) Anyway... speed skating anger aside, here are the layouts I finished last night:

In less than 2 1/2 hours I got THREE done. May not seem like a lot, but its HUGE for me!!!

Tiny Dancer

I stopped in to my favorite scrappy store tonight and purchased a few things from the new "Dear Lizzy" line... Obviously, I love the name. :)
Anyway --- this sheet of patterned paper lead me a completely different way and kept nagging me while I was putting the paper I away that I had purchased. And then I thought of this picture of my darling daughter in her first year of dance and I still hadn't scrapped that picture.
So here it is, I finally scrapped this picture! It is a pretty simple layout but I love how it turned out. I'm trying to work on getting more done and not being as super picky as I usually am. :)

Getting Sassy with the Sassafrass Lass!

I've recently found the love (or obsession?) of Sassafrass Lass paper and embellishments. Here are a few layouts I've done in the past weeks here...

Baseball layout!

I took my dear husband to a Brewers game last year for his birthday. Cubs vs. Brewers.... it was a great time!
We did one of those infamous one armed shots and took a picture of ourselves at the stadium after the game was over and I scrapped it yesterday! This was a challenge for me because I don't usually use paper like this. :) And well, sports... thats a different 'theme' for me.

Page Kit Swap! :)

Hello, hello! Its been a little bit since my last post. I've been holding onto my latest projects so I could post them in groups.

I was involved in a neat swap on a scrapbooking board where we made up little page kits and sent to everyone in our groups. I was in three groups and four people in each group.

Here's my first girl group I was in... there weren't too many rules. We sent 2 patterned papers and a piece of cardstock and some random embellishments to match. From there it was wherever our creativity took us!

This was technically a 'girl kit' - but I kept going back to this picture so I just had to use it! :)

I have one more girl group and an 'Anything Goes' group to finish up! I have a few done, but will post when I have all four for each group!

Another candle... or 2!

I made this one tonight for my cousin's 40th birthday. :) She's not a blog-hopper so it won't ruin the surprise!

And I made this one just to try out some new stamps my friend Erika sent me. :) She's so sweet, thanks Erika!

Candles!

So I've been trying a few different things lately and I thought candles would be a fun project. I'm doing a little mini-class on them for an online crop in a few weeks, so I made a few examples up ahead of time.

This one is a 'Sweet Bamboo' green pillar candle (Michael's for $2.49 I think?) and I used the American Craft Majestic stamp set and added some ribbon and brads for decoration as well. I love how it turned out!

And then there's the simple tree stamp... and some ribbon and brads to hold on the ribbon so it doesn't slip. (I think the stamp is from Inkadinkadoo?)

Cards for a swap!

So I've been working on some cards tonight and last night...

Colored stamp image with my copic markers... I'm getting there, but I'm not a pro at shading and stuff with them by all means!

And then there's this one... I tried something new! An oragami flower using my scalloped circle Nestabilities by Spellbinders. I saw a tutorial on youtube that I just happened to stumble upon one day when I was looking up a few different ways to use my little nesties... here it is if you'd like to check it out! Its pretty easy, but I found that its MUCH easier if after you fold it in half you cut it in half at that point. It makes the folds less bulky and easier to deal with!
